I'm thinking maybe there should be a law that requires employers to share anonymized data with their workers on the salaries of their co-workers, to get people the information they need to negotiate fair wages
Personally I want to regulate major social media sites like a public entity: Meaning Twitter can only ban speech that the government could also ban, like threats of of violence.
How about this: We set up a fund that goes directly to education, child care and some other stuff, which is exclusively funded with the 70% marginal tax rate over 10 million $ (in the 60s that was 90%). Then anyone who is against that would be considered a monster by literally everyone

US: "Trump is crazy, he says he would nukes if elected because 'that's what they're made for'. He'd destroy the world!"
77 years and one day ago, December 7th 1941, the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by combined naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

If giving large amounts of money to politicians isn't bribery, then I suppose giving large amounts of money to a police officer isn't, either.
Interesting how elected, bought Republicans think paying poor people money to survive makes them "dependent", but when corporations pay politicians like them money, they just do that out of the goodness of their hearts.
WAS???!
If in 2016, Russia had unilaterally decided they want to release for example the "I grab her by the pussy" tape, to give Hillary better chances of winning, honestly what would you have thought about that?
The US basically has the UK political system - as it was in 1776: The moderately powerful king is elected and called the President, the people elect the House of Commons/Representatives in districts.
When a Constitution says for instance "You can't pass an Amendment taking away the right to vote", couldn't you just repeal the Amendment and then take away the right to vote?
This is a graph of the yearly increase of CO2 in the atmosphere: As you can see, it is getting worse, not better, we emit more CO2 every year today than we did ever before
This is just an idea I've had a few minutes ago while thinking about something different: What would happen if there was a mandatory "waiting period" before buying stocks, maybe 24h? Would that help to curb market instability and crashs? I mean technically speaking buying stock is supposed to be an investment, right? So why would you care so much whether you buy it now or tomorrow?
What if I held an auction, where the highest bidder gets a 100$ bill from me. Except there's a catch: The second-highest bidder also has to pay me
To everyone who is for a tax-funded army and police, but against single-payer healthcare: So you want everyone to be protected from criminals and other countries, got it. What about wild animals attacking citizens? What about Ebola?
If 99% of astronomers agreed there was a giant asteroid headed to earth in 30 years, would you also be like "We don't need this silly space craft to fly up there and save us from the asteroid, it's just a way for [insert group you don't like] to make money. China made it up to hurt our economy"?
Hold on, why is dividend income taxed LESS than labor income in the US?
Organist means somebody who plays the musical instrument "organ". It doesn't mean somebody who organizes, or somebody who has something to do with organs in the body
Because I agree, it needs big reforms. I'm going to tell you my ideas in a bit, bit first here is how the EU currently works, in a nutshell.
How about a "Negative Tax", where for every net dollar you lack to 2000$/month, the government gives you 50ct. That means nobody ever falls below 1000$/month, but we also don't waste money on the upper middle class, giving everyone 1000$ (that'd be UBI)
