Why in classical paintings and statues penises were quite small?

You (like me) probably must have wondered that question. Especially since those depicted men were meant to be perfection in their physical attributes.

Was it that large penises simply didn’t exist?

Well, they did (duh) but as mentioned before, small penises were a part of being PERFECT in those times. Those with smaller attributes were thought to be of higher intelligence, class and manners. On the other hand, those with large penises were thought to be crass and rude savages, brute lowlifes with no education or intelligence.

Well, this was the idea for classical Greeks and Romans up to as late as the Victorian Era.

In other civilisations and cultures a big penis was more of a representation of fertility and all that 😁

Well, hope this was interesting for some peeps 👋🏻

Is there a source for this? Phallic symbols (read as giant cocks with wings) were displayed all over homes and public spaces in the ancient world.

I read this ages ago somewhere that, for the life of me, I cannot remember. I think it was either in a Museum or book...

Bravefoot, tried to look it up but the sources weren't great and the opinions varied.

Joey, should have put the card under sarcasm then 😂

When I first saw this I went hunting around and saw varying opinions including the one mentioned on the card. Just don't ask me where because it was a couple of days ago and I don't remember
